Introduction
CnT is involved in the designing of a few premier educational institutions in India. This research is developed for the initial design proposal attempted for two different clients. The first client, a leading corporate group, wanted to develop an autonomous fashion technology institute in Hyderabad; while another client, an established design institute, wanted to expand and shift to new premises in Bangalore.
Scope
The primary intention is to derive key propositions that define the character of an educational institute. These propositions may address several contextual issues such as the city, site, student community, educational culture and so forth.
Limitations
Apart from a few Indian case studies, most of the cases rely on the information compiled from secondary sources.
Methodology
This is a documentation research work for which a brief literature survey is conducted. It includes the documentation process of various national as well as international educational institutes. Documentation is compiled in various format; available from book and non-book materials. A few case study visits are also attempted in order to gain further insights into the brief given by the clients. After the survey, the overall compilation is structured to perform a comparative analysis. This comparison has led to the development of programmatic prototypes for the given projects.
Inferences
The inferences are used as design guidelines for the given project.
