Scope
Primary intention is to derive key propositions that define the character of the fashion village. These propositions may address several contextual issues such as city, site, community, culture, tradition, fashion industry and so forth.
Limitations
Apart from few Indian cases studies, most of the case studies rely on the information compiled from secondary sources.
Methodology
Compilation of brief literature reviewing two parallel viewpoints. One of the compilations focuses upon on studying issues related to city, while the other, deals with the fashion industry and socio-cultural aspects. A few fashion districts across the world are documented in manner, to create wide sample range of socio-cultural diversity. At the scale of city, same examples are studied in context to various aspects related to street patterns, mass-void relationship, great open spaces, landscapes, circulation patterns and similar relationships. Entire database is then structured into various formats, to perform critical analysis.
Inferences
A few model prototypes of the different street typologies along with their key components are derived after the analysis. Historical association, articulated faced, pedestrian zone, covered walkways, street arts, elaborate night lighting and media/ branding surfaces are a few of such components. These components are used as a design guideline for the project development process.
